What’s Happening
Queensland Police have launched the 'End Knife Violence' campaign ahead of new state knife laws in September.
Why It Matters
These new Queensland laws will ban knife sales to juveniles and require secure storage and age-restricted signage in stores.
Collectively, they will aim to prevent young people from accessing dangerous knives, reduce knife-related incidents, and enhance public safety.
By the Numbers
Over 59,000 people have been wanded since Jack’s Law started in 2020
1,500 individuals have been charged with 2,800 offences of the law since 2019

The Gold Coast, where Jack Beasley was fatally stabbed in 2019, and its local community and hundreds of thousands of tourists each year stand to benefit significantly from these increased safety measures.
