All aboard at new Hope Island train station
The new Hope Island train station is now officially open.
Hope Island station is the second of three new train stations introduced on the Gold Coast line as part of the State Government’s Cross River Rail project, which is designed to better connect the region’s growing population.
Trains started stopping at its platforms on Monday morning.
The completed station features 210 parking spaces and a 40-bicycle lock-up enclosure.
Bus routes and timetables have been updated to include the new Hope Island station stop.
“The new Hope Island station is a gamechanger for the Gold Coast and is a key step forward to meeting the demands of a fast-growing region,” Premier David Crisafulli said.
“Along with our Permanent 50 Cent Fares, we are delivering generational infrastructure right across our State and expanding public transport options for Queenslanders.”
Member for Theodore Mark Boothman said the fast-growing region would benefit significantly from the new train station and bus connections.
“Hope Island station will help ease congestion on our roads by providing convenient train services to the Gold Coast, Brisbane City, and beyond,” Mr Boothman said.
“It will also relieve pressure on Helensvale station, currently the busiest train station outside Brisbane CBD.”
The three connecting bus services include the introduction of a new route, extended alignments and operating hours on existing services to better connect Hope Island and surrounding communities, including Paradise Point and Runaway Bay, with new the station.
“These changes will improve public transport coverage, increase service frequency, and make it easier for residents and visitors to access rail services, local shops, medical services, and employment.”
Hope Island station is one of three new train stations being delivered as part of the project. Pimpama station opened in October 2025, while Merrimac station is currently under construction.
