Brisbane 2032 reveals Games Vision shaped by Australians
Brisbane 2032 reveals its Games Vision shaped by 6,000 people statewide, outlining beliefs, commitments and values for the Games.
What’s happening?
The Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games Organising Committee has released its Games Vision after a statewide consultation that reached more than 6,000 Australians, including almost 3,000 people from across Queensland.
The final vision is Believe, Belong, Become, Brisbane 2032. It was launched in Brisbane with more than a dozen councils tuning in.
Brisbane 2032 President Andrew Liveris thanked Queenslanders and Australians for their ideas. He said the vision reflects belief, grit, spirit and a shared sense of belonging.
Why it matters
This vision sets the tone for how Queensland will host the Games and what legacy the state aims to create. Leaders from the IOC, IPC, federal and state governments and sporting bodies say the vision captures Queensland’s character and ambition.
It gives direction for Games delivery, inclusion, access and long-term benefits for communities.
Local impact
Councils across Queensland joined the launch event, showing how the Games will touch communities far beyond Brisbane.
The commitments highlight access, culture, environment, sport participation and economic opportunity. Leaders say the vision supports a strong legacy that will outlast 2032 and strengthen local pride.
By the numbers
The consultation process drew over 6,000 participants, with 48 percent coming from communities across Queensland, showing strong statewide involvement.
A total of 37 stakeholder groups took part, bringing a broad mix of ages, locations, genders, cultures and community backgrounds into the discussion.
The team ran 40 workshops and meetings across the state, giving people the chance to share views and help shape the direction of the Games.
The process produced 1,300 ideas, and these ideas directly informed the commitments included in the final Games Vision.
Zoom in
Andrew Liveris said the vision will guide their work for 2032.
He said, “Our Games Vision has significant symbolism behind it, with the genesis of each word acting as our north star towards the delivery of our Games in 2032 and an exciting era beyond.”
He thanked communities and said, “I want to thank communities across Queensland and Australia for their input into the development of a Games Vision and commitments that typify who we are and what we represent.”
IOC Coordination Chair Mikaela Cojuangco Jaworski said, “The vision is bold and reflects the warmth and dynamism of Queenslanders as they prepare to welcome the world to their Games.”
IPC Executive Director Colleen Wrenn said the vision is incredibly exciting and motivating, adding that it is straightforward, highly memorable, easy to understand and extremely powerful.
She said, “The five words stand for so much and underline Brisbane 2032’s passion and commitment to deliver transformational Paralympic Games that will not just unite and inspire Queenslanders and Australians, but the whole world.”
Federal Sport Minister Anika Wells said, “This Games Vision speaks to how Brisbane 2032 will highlight triumphs over adversity that bring Australians together.”
Queensland Sport Minister Tim Mander said, “The 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games represent a once-in-a-generation opportunity for us to showcase the very best of Queensland on the world stage and the Crisafulli Government is committed to delivering a legacy for Queenslanders that lasts well beyond 2032.“
He added, “The Games Vision captures the drive, ambition and belief in what’s possible that defines this state and sets a clear direction for what we want the Games to represent. This is an opportunity to reinforce that everyone belongs and is welcome to enjoy sport in our great state.”

Brisbane Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner said, “Brisbane’s Games Vision captured the spirit of a city that believes in itself and welcomes the world. Brisbane will be a Games that brings people together and strengthens our city for generations. We are determined to seize this opportunity and deliver a Games that leaves a lasting legacy for our city.”
AOC President Ian Chesterman said, “The Games Vision will resonate strongly with our athletes as we head towards Brisbane 2032. Every athlete must believe they are ready to take on the best in the world. When they make the Australian Olympic Team, they truly belong to something revered. And each will also become an Olympian for the rest of their lives, once an Olympian, always an Olympian and hold a special place in our country’s rich sporting history. A home Games is an enormous motivation for every aspiring athlete in Queensland and across Australia.”
Paralympics Australia President Grant Mizens said, “This vision is clear, confident and uncompromising in its ambition. It recognises the scale and significance of hosting both the Olympic and Paralympic Games, and it sets the expectation for what Brisbane must deliver.”
He also said, “Importantly, it captures the unique power of Paralympic sport and the impact our athletes can have on the nation and the world. Paralympics Australia is fully committed to bringing this vision to life. It aligns with our own strategic direction and with the type of Games we believe Australia should host. We’re ready to play our role as a Games Delivery Partner to ensure the Paralympic component is not only delivered to the highest standard but sets new benchmarks for all future hosts to aspire to.”
He added, “The work behind this vision has been rigorous. People have been heard, not just consulted. Their experiences and ambitions, including those of Paralympians, have shaped something that feels honest, ambitious and globally relevant.”
