Burleigh mum scores $1million lottery prize
Gold Coast mum claims $1m top prize in Monday 23 February 2026 lottery draw.
What’s happening?
A Burleigh mum of three has become a millionaire overnight after discovering she had won $1 million in Monday night’s lottery draw on 23 February 2026.
The Gold Coast resident checked her ticket straight after the draw and said the shock nearly gave her a heart attack.
“Oh my god! Oh my god!” she exclaimed.
“It’s real! Now that you’ve given me a call, I know it’s real!
“I nearly had a heart attack last night when I checked the ticket.
“I was beside my husband and my elderst son and I immediately jumped on my son and said, ‘I think I’ve just won $1 million! Oh my god!’.
“My husband doesn’t believe it, and he still doesn’t! I can’t wait to prove him wrong!
“I’ve been playing the lottery since one of my sons were born. Gosh, I’ve been playing for 16 years!
“I’ve got goosebumps, and a tingle down my spine!
“We will definitely be going out for a celebratory dinner, and I’ll be enjoying a glass of champagne!”
Her winning 24-game QuickPick was purchased via app.
The winning numbers on Monday, 23 February 2026 were 23, 29, 33, 18, 15 and 13, with supplementary numbers 10 and 1.
Why it matters
For this local family, the prize is about security and support.
“My son’s been saving up for his first car, but he doesn’t have quite have enough. But now, I can buy him one! He actually started browsing for cars last night,” she laughed.
“I did tell him not to get too carried away, though - everyone knows you beat up your first car!
“I’m also planning to help out the family and give everyone some money. I love helping others, and have always given back to charities.
“Thank you so much!”
After 16 years of playing, her patience has paid off in a way she never expected.
Local impact
The sole top prize nationally was won in Queensland.
That puts Burleigh and the Gold Coast back in focus for a major lottery win.
It also adds to the state’s tally of top prize winners this financial year.
By the numbers
One division, one winning entry was recorded across Australia in the 23 February 2026 draw, and it was in Queensland.
The Lott has crowned 277 division one winners so far this financial year, including 65 Golden Casket customers.
In 2025, more than 121.6 million winners shared over $3.93 billion in prize money, while more than $1.66 billion was returned to states for hospitals, research, disaster relief and education last financial year.
Zoom in
The mum had been playing for 16 years, starting when one of her sons was born.
Her first instinct was to celebrate with her family and help her son secure his first car.
Zoom out
Lottery wins do more than change individual lives.
Last financial year, more than $1.66 billion was contributed via state lottery taxes and donations to community initiatives.
What to look for next?
There are more major jackpots on offer this week, giving players another shot at a life-changing win.
For one Burleigh family, though, the celebration has already begun.
