Carinity funding backs Gold Coast communities
Carinity grants will back Gold Coast church projects helping families, job seekers and disadvantaged children.

What’s happening?
Carinity is backing new partnerships with Baptist churches to support local communities across Queensland.
On the Gold Coast, the projects will focus on families in need, people facing disadvantage, and children needing support.
Backyard Bless, an initiative by Beachside Christian Church, will help identify and serve Gold Coast families in need.
The project will complete yard work for families, while also offering pastoral support.
CrossLife Baptist Church will start a new social enterprise in Southport.
The new cafe will help people facing disadvantages gain hospitality skills based on industry training.
Queensland Conference and Camping Centres will also run a free camp for disadvantaged Gold Coast children.
The camp will connect families, young leaders and local ministries.
Why it matters?
The projects are designed to reduce disadvantage and build stronger local neighbourhoods.
They also aim to create better connections for vulnerable people.
Carinity’s Community Development Coordinator, Tara Pease, said the funding supports practical community work.
“Carinity is helping churches provide transformational development by supporting vulnerable people in their neighbourhood,” Ms Pease said.
“The new projects being funded by Carinity this year will assist vulnerable people within communities around Queensland in a variety of practical ways.
“These projects reflect Carinity’s own values, including a vision to create communities where people feel loved, accepted and supported to reach their full potential.”
Local Impact
For Gold Coast families, Backyard Bless will offer practical support through yard projects.
For Southport residents, the CrossLife cafe will create training pathways in hospitality.
For disadvantaged children, the free camp will provide a supportive space to build connections.
Together, the projects bring community support closer to people who may otherwise miss out.
By the numbers
Six Baptist churches and organisations will receive grants through Carinity’s Collaborative Community Projects.
More than $400,000 has been allocated across the funded projects over their three-year duration.
Three Gold Coast-related initiatives are named, including Backyard Bless, the Southport cafe and a free children’s camp.
Eight Queensland Baptist churches also received $5,000 each through the Small Grants funding round.
Zoom In
The Gold Coast projects take different approaches to community support.
Backyard Bless focuses on families needing practical help at home.
CrossLife Baptist Church will use a cafe model to offer real hospitality training.
Queensland Conference and Camping Centres will focus on children, families and young leaders through its free camp.
Zoom Out
The Gold Coast projects form part of a broader Queensland funding round.
Other recipients are based in Brisbane, Moreton Bay, Bundaberg and Longreach.
Carinity said the projects are meant to relieve disadvantage, support connection and build stronger neighbourhoods.
What To Look For Next?
The funded projects will move through their three-year delivery period.
For the Gold Coast, that means local churches and organisations will begin putting the support programs into action.
The Small Grants recipients will also add more local church-led projects across Queensland.
