Coles and Liquorland open in Varsity Lakes
Varsity Lakes welcomes a new Coles and Liquorland just in time for Christmas.
What’s happening?
Varsity Lakes has welcomed a brand-new Coles and Liquorland, opening today, Wednesday, 17 December, just in time for Christmas.
Coles Varsity Lakes is located at 1 Bellvue Drive, Varsity Lakes, QLD 4227. The store trades Monday to Saturday from 7 am to 9 pm and Sunday from 9 am to 6 pm.
Liquorland Varsity Lakes is located adjacent to Coles. It is open 9 am to 8 pm Monday to Wednesday, 9 am to 9 pm Thursday to Saturday, and 10 am to 6 pm on Sundays.
The opening marks the first new Coles store on the Gold Coast since Coles Pacific Pines opened in November 2016.
Why it matters
The new store adds a full-range supermarket to one of the Gold Coast’s fastest-growing master-planned communities.
Located minutes from Bond University and Varsity College, the store is designed to serve students, young professionals, and growing families.
Coles Varsity Lakes Store Manager Billy Stock said locals had been eager for the opening.
“The community response to the store has been incredible, with locals often stopping us in the street to say how excited they are to welcome a conveniently located supermarket with a full range right on their doorstep,” he said.
He said the store had been built with the customer experience in mind.
“Walking into the store for the first time felt like unwrapping a Christmas gift, and I think customers will instantly notice how purpose-built, bright, and welcoming the space is, designed to make shopping easy and enjoyable.”
Mr Stock also highlighted the local workforce behind the opening.
“I’m thrilled to open this store with a young, enthusiastic local team, with almost half coming straight from nearby Varsity College and starting their very first job with us here at Coles.”
Local impact
The opening creates new employment opportunities for locals, including students entering the workforce for the first time.
Liquorland Varsity Lakes Store Manager Vivienne Wilson said her team was ready to support the community during the festive season.
“We’re so excited to open our doors to this new Liquorland store and provide our expertise in time for customers to get their Christmas drinks sorted,” she said.
“Our range is fit to serve locals, featuring an impressive range of more than 1,800 wines, beers and spirits meaning there’s something for every taste, occasion and budget.”
The store is also focused on giving back through food relief and local sports support.
