Copper chap cops charges
A Pacific Pines man has been accused of drug and theft offences after finding drugs and 162kg of copper wiring in his home.
During a search of the property, police found methylamphetamine, drug utensils, including electronic scales with residue, and numerous used hypodermic syringes.
About 162 kilograms of copper wiring and electrical conduit were seized during the search, along with tools including bolt cutters and equipment consistent with stripping copper cabling.
Police believe the copper wiring was stolen from a building site and further inquiries are underway, including investigations linked to recent copper thefts across the district.
A 50-year-old Pacific Pines man has been given a notice to appear for two counts of possessing dangerous drugs and one count of supplying dangerous drugs, unlawful possession of suspected stolen property, possessing utensils that had been used in connection with a dangerous drug offence, and failing to properly dispose of a needle and syringe.
He is due to appear before the Southport Magistrates Court on 17 March 2026.
