Dad claims $200k prize after Logan mystery win
Gold Coast dad claims $200000 prize after buying winning ticket at Loganholme store.
What’s happening?
A father from Labrador on the Gold Coast has come forward to claim a prize after holding the winning ticket in a recent raffle-style lottery draw.
The man held the first prize-winning entry in draw 1776, held on Friday, 6 March 2026. Officials had initially been waiting for the ticket holder to check his entry because it had not been registered to a membership account.
Once he realised his ticket had won, the Gold Coast resident contacted officials to confirm the result.
The winning entry was purchased at Loganholme News and Casket, Shop 5, Loganholme Shopping Village, 37 - 59 Bryants Road, Loganholme.
Why it matters?
Unregistered tickets can delay prize claims because officials must wait for the ticket holder to check their numbers and make contact.
In this case, the Gold Coast dad said the surprise win took time to sink in, and even his daughter did not believe him at first.
“It’s a good chunk of change!” the winning man cheered.
“It still hasn’t sunk in. I had to get my missus to double-check the ticket because it didn’t seem real.
“Then the next day, I gave my daughter a call to try and share the news. She told me she’d seen a Facebook post about a mystery winner in the Logan area. When I tried to tell her it was me, she didn’t believe it.
“She said, ‘No, Dad, it’s someone who lives in Logan.’ It’s fair to say it took a lot of convincing before she finally believed me.
“I had to explain the full story of me buying the ticket and what I was doing in the area.
“Unbelievable!”
Local impact
The winning ticket was sold in Loganholme, bringing attention to a local outlet that sold the prize-winning entry.
Store owner Deepak Bhandari said the moment was exciting for the store and the local community, with staff and regular customers sharing in the celebration.
By the numbers
The Labrador father will receive a $200,000 1st Prize after holding the winning ticket in the draw on 6 March 2026.
The winning ticket contained a sequence of 10 consecutive numbers, which secured the prize in the draw.
In 2025, more than 121.6 million winners across Australia shared over $3.93 billion in prize money from lottery-style games.

With the prize set to boost his bank account, the Labrador father said his family would be his priority.
“I’ve already done so much with my life so I want to share some with my kids,” he said.
“I think we’ll start with a family trip and go from there.
“The rest will be invested and be a nest egg.
“A big thank you to the Loganholme News and Casket for making my dreams come true.”
Loganholme News and Casket owner Deepak Bhandari said the store was proud to have sold the winning ticket.
“We felt extremely proud and happy knowing that our store played a small part in someone’s life-changing moment,” he said.
“Moments like these remind us how lucky and exciting these opportunities can be and we are thrilled that the winning entry came from our outlet.
“We’ll be celebrating with our staff and loyal customers who visit our store regularly. It’s not every day that a first prize-winning entry is sold here, so we want to enjoy the moment and share the happiness with everyone.
“Over the years, we’ve been lucky enough to sell several major prize-winning entries.
“Congratulations to the first prize winner! This is truly a life-changing moment, and we are so happy that the winning entry came from our outlet. We wish you great happiness, good health, and success as you enjoy this wonderful prize.”

Raffle-style lottery games operate differently from traditional number draws. Each ticket number in a draw is unique, which means prizes are not shared between winners.
Each draw involves two stages. One determines the winning numbers, while another selects the jackpot number. If the jackpot number matches one of the winning numbers, the jackpot prize is awarded. If it does not match, the jackpot grows for the next draw.
Across Australia, these lottery-style games produced millions of winners in 2025 and generated billions in prize money.
What to look for next
The next draw in the same raffle-style lottery game is already building momentum, with the jackpot now sitting at $27.04 million. Another jackpot draw currently stands at $1.41 million.
Future draws will continue under the same raffle-style format, where each ticket number is unique, and prizes are not shared between winners.
