Earth Markets opens Mermaid Waters store with more planned
Earth Markets has opened its fifth store at Mermaid Waters with three more planned, creating jobs and offering fresh local produce.
What’s happening?
Earth Markets has officially opened its fifth store at Mermaid Waters on 30 August after acquiring Q Growers Markets at Q Super Centre.
The two-day community celebration on 30 and 31 August includes family fun, face painting, taste testing, and lucky door prizes.
Why it matters
The southeast Queensland-owned and operated business continues to expand despite challenges in the fresh produce industry. General Manager Brian Menke said Earth Markets exists to enrich lives with fresh, affordable food. “Health matters, and by keeping things affordable and fresh, we’re helping families put good food on the table without compromise,” Mr Menke said.
Local impact
The Mermaid Waters store has created around 30 new jobs, with the business employing over 170 staff across Robina, Logan, Elanora and Burleigh. Its planned three new stores will add another 90 roles, bringing the workforce to about 260 people.

Zoom in
Mr Menke said the team sources produce directly from farmers, with staff at Rocklea Markets five days a week. “All our stores receive two daily deliveries to ensure freshness and maintain the highest quality; that’s what sets us apart,” he said. He added that Earth Markets is a genuine alternative to major retailers where “freshness, quality and community all come first.”
Zoom out
Very few businesses thrive in the fresh produce industry, but Earth Markets is growing steadily and positioning itself as a trusted local grocer. Its stores go beyond fresh fruit and vegetables, offering a one-stop shop for delicatessen goods, gourmet foods, gluten free, vegan and organic groceries.
What to look for next
With three more stores planned, Earth Markets is set to expand its footprint and provide more families across southeast Queensland with affordable, fresh food sourced directly from farmers.
