Everclear lights up Gold Coast with Sparkle and Fade 30th Anniversary Tour
Everclear celebrates 30 years of Sparkle and Fade with a Gold Coast show.
What’s happening?
Everclear, one of the leading alternative rock bands to emerge from the 1990s, has announced Australian dates for their Sparkle and Fade 30th Anniversary Tour this November and December.
The tour will include a Gold Coast show on Saturday 6 December at Miami Marketta, where the band will perform hits and fan favourites along with almost the entire Sparkle and Fade album.
Why it matters
Released in 1995, Everclear’s Platinum-selling major-label debut Sparkle and Fade had a massive impact with its chart-topping hit Santa Monica.
The album also featured Heroin Girl and Heartspark Dollarsign, and was hailed as “a must have for any fan of pop-punk” (Punknews) and “a tough, melodic set of gnarled post-punk hard rock” (AllMusic). The Rolling Stone Album Guide described it as “everything a radio-ready rock record should be: explosive, soul-searching, belligerent.”
Frontman Art Alexakis said, “Sparkle and Fade was not the first album I had made, but it was the album I had wanted to make my whole life. It changed everything for me and Everclear. Because of its success and lasting impact, this band has survived and prospered for three decades, and this tour celebrating Sparkle and Fade is another way of us saying ‘thank you’ to all of the incredible fans, old and new. We’re excited to bring this tour to Australia.
In addition to all the hits and fan favourites, we’re going to pretty much play the whole album through the course of the show to commemorate this 30th anniversary. If you are a fan of this record, you do not want to miss this tour!”
Local impact
The Gold Coast stop at Miami Marketta gives fans the opportunity to see the band up close as they celebrate the record that cemented their international success.
