Five teens charged after property spree
Police have charged five people following a traffic crash in Upper Coomera on Tuesday and multiple property crime incidents in Brisbane’s south and the Gold Coast.
It will be alleged that around 2am on Tuesday a group of people have broken into a home at Tosti Street, Bundall and stole a black Mercedes-Benz GLE450.
The vehicle was sighted at several break-ins and attempted breaks-ins in Brisbane’s south a few hours later.
Around 3.50am, a group broke into a Coutts Street address in Bulimba before being disturbed by an occupant and fleeing in a black Mercedes without stealing any property from the address.
Investigators believe the same group is linked to nearby attempted breaks on McConnell Street, Bulimba Street, Walter Street, and Duke Street.
Shortly before 4.30am, a group also broke into a Skyview Avenue address in Rochedale, where no property was stolen.
The group also attempted to break into a nearby Phoenix Street address, and a second Skyview Avenue address before fleeing.
Around 10:45am on Tuesday, the black Mercedes rammed a police vehicle on Stephens Street, Upper Coomera, before it was intercepted nearby on Reserve Road. The car’s five occupants were taken into custody.
A 16-year-old Park Ridge boy has been charged with seven counts of burglary.
A 17-year-old Browns Plains boy has been charged with 18 counts of burglary, eight counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, and one count of fraud.
A 17-year-old Upper Coomera boy has been charged with three counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, two counts of burglary, and one count of obstruct police.
A 14-year-old Pimpama boy has been charged with ten counts of burglary, four counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, and one count of fraud.
An 18-year-old Oxenford man has been charged with 17 counts of burglary, two counts of robbery, and one count each of assault occasioning bodily harm, wilful damage, and attempted robbery.
