Gold Coast earns AACTA film festival sequel

Australia’s largest film festival is set to return to the Gold Coast next year.
The Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts has this week revealed its program for the 2025 AACTA Festival, which will run at the Home of the Arts from February 5 to February 9.
The event is underpinned by the prestigious AACTA Award ceremonies, which attracts some of the biggest names in the Australian screen industry. .
The festival, which more than 100 events, is described as a celebration of film, TV, online content and documentaries. The festival program features a line-up of film premieres, exclusive screenings, industry networking events, music, and informative and collaborative experiences for fans.
AACTA chief executive office Damian Trewhella said the AACTA Festival was a one-of-a-kind event.
“With over 100 events led by our industry’s best, it is a truly transformative experience for anyone passionate about the screen industry, offering an unparalleled opportunity to explore career pathways and connect with some of the brightest minds in film and television,’’ he said.
Acting Mayor Donna Gates said the city loved hosting the AACTA Festival.
“Our reputation as the Asia/Pacific’s screen industry home continues to grow and having the prestigious AACTA Awards and Festival here in 2025 showcases and highlights the scope of our local screen industry,” Cr Gates said.
Experience Gold Coast CEO John Warn said he could not wait to roll out the red carpet for the festival.
Screen Queensland CEO Jacqui Feeney said that the AACTA Awards and Festival offered an opportunity for Queensland screen practitioners and audiences to experience the best the industry has to offer.

“Through our collaboration, the festival program dives into filmmaking with an array of local and international creative talent, which includes many people working on projects here in Queensland.
