Gold Coast Turf Club Shines with Ronald McDonald House Charities Gala
One Sunny Race Day: A Delightful Blend of Glamour and Charity
The Gold Coast Turf Club recently played host to the much-anticipated Ronald McDonald House Charities South East Queensland (RMHC SEQ) Race Day, a spectacular event that brought together over 500 guests for a noble cause.
Themed 'One Sunny Race Day,' the event transformed the Gold Coast into a Palm Springs-inspired haven, featuring pastels, sensational sips, mouth-watering morsels, live auctions, and panoramic views of the race track.
In an incredible display of generosity, the event raised over $125,000 to support RMHC SEQ, contributing directly to providing essential accommodation and support programs for families with ill or injured children.
The Gold Coast Turf Club Board Director, Tara Hastings, expressed pride in the event's success, emphasising the community's deep commitment to a worthy cause.
Award-winning newsreader and event MC, Katrina Blowers, shared her honour in being part of such a meaningful initiative. "From the outfits to the auction items – it was a day everyone will remember for a long time," she reflected.
RMHC SEQ Chief Executive Officer, Emma Thompson, applauded the collaborative effort of the Gold Coast Turf Club, One Sunny Race Day committee, sponsors, and special guests.
The funds raised will support the accommodation and family rooms at Herston, South Brisbane, the Queensland Children’s Hospital, and the Gold Coast University Hospital.
With over 3,500 families staying annually at the Ronald McDonald Houses in South East Queensland, and an additional 10,000 families utilising the Family Rooms, the event's success is crucial in maintaining this vital support network.
Thompson expressed gratitude, stating, "Without these generous contributions, we would be unable to keep our doors open to families in need 365 days a year."
The Gold Coast Turf Club, with its splendid setting and commitment to philanthropy, once again proved itself as a pivotal player in supporting the community and making a lasting impact on the lives of families in need.
