Gold Coast woman wins lucky prize
A Labrador woman says her late mum sent a lucky wink after her $100k win.
What’s Happening?
A Labrador woman is celebrating an emotional Lucky Lotteries win that she believes carries a special link to her late mother.
The Gold Coast woman said her mum had always loved playing lotteries and believed she would win one day. Since her mother’s passing, she had kept playing because the habit reminded her of someone she loved.
Her winning entry, made up of two random numbers, was purchased through The Lott app, the official home of Australia’s lotteries.
Why It Matters?
The win has given the Labrador woman more than a financial boost. For her, the prize also feels like a tribute to her mother.
When an official from The Lott called with the news, the woman had just sat down with a cup of tea. The moment quickly became emotional as she connected the win to years of family memories.
“I just sat down with a cup of tea. I can’t believe this. This is amazing!” she said.
“Oh my goodness. You have no idea what this’ll do for me.
“I’ll tell you a little story. My mum loved playing lotteries and she always thought she’d win one day. She’s passed now but I think she made this happen. What a darling!
“I’ve been playing since she passed because she honestly just loved it so much.
“For every birthday she had, we would buy her tickets and she’d often ring me of a night if she fell asleep during the draw to ask me what the numbers were.
“She’d diligently tick them off. Then she’d go ‘Nothing this time but one day I’ll win’. I definitely see this as a little wink from her.
“Thank you so much. One hundred thousand dollars is astronomical.
“I’ll be able to do so many things. I’ve been wanting to go overseas too.”
Local Impact
The win adds another Gold Coast name to Queensland’s list of major lottery winners, with Labrador now part of the latest Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot story.
It also shows how a lottery prize can carry a deeper meaning for families. For this winner, the money is welcome, but the memory behind it made the moment even stronger.
By The Numbers
The Labrador woman won $100,000 after scoring 1st Prize in Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot draw 11079.
The winning draw took place on Thursday 11 June 2026, with the prize confirmed through The Lott.
The next Lucky Lotteries prizes have also grown, with the Mega Jackpot at $2.20 million and the Super Jackpot at $3.49 million.
Zoom In
Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot and Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot are raffle-style games, so each draw has a set number of tickets.
Every ticket number is unique, which means players do not share prizes. Each game also has two draws.
One draw decides the winning numbers, while the other decides the jackpot number. When the jackpot number matches a winning number, the Jackpot Prize is won.
If the jackpot number does not match, the Jackpot Prize climbs for the next draw.
Zoom Out
The Lott said more than 121.6 million winners took home more than $3.93 billion in prize money in 2025.
Those wins came across games including Saturday Gold Lotto, Weekday Windfall, Powerball, Oz Lotto, Set for Life, Lucky Lotteries, Keno in South Australia, Super 66, Lotto Strike and Instant Scratch-Its.
Last financial year, Australia’s official lotteries contributed more than $1.66 billion through state lottery taxes and donations.
That money helped support community initiatives, including hospitals, health research, disaster relief and education.
The Lott also supports Play For Purpose, a not-for-profit charity raffle helping more than 500 causes across Australia.
What To Look For Next?
The Labrador woman now has time to decide how the prize can help her next chapter.
For lottery players, the next Super Jackpot and Mega Jackpot draws will continue with higher prize pools.
