Health injection for GC
The Gold Coast is to get a second Urgent Care Clinic, this time in Southport.
The Southport clinic will provide treatment for urgent, non-life-threatening, conditions and will hopefully ease pressure on the Gold Coast University Hospital, which has one of the busiest Emergency Departments in the country.
The Gold Coast’s first Urgent Care Clinic was opened in Oxenford in November last year and has already treated 3000 people.
Federal Minister for Health and Aged Care Mark Butler said Southport had been chosen for the site of the clinic in close consultation with the Queensland Government.
“The clinic is one of a further 29 announced as part of the $227 million expansion in the 2024–25 budget,’’ he said.
“An Urgent Care Clinic for the Gold Coast, at Southport, will mean more Queenslanders can access high-quality urgent care without having to wait in a hospital emergency department.”
