When contacted about the win, the Coolangatta man said he could hardly believe his eyes when he first checked his ticket.
“Oh wow, thank you very much!” he said. “I normally only ever win $9.60 or $15.40 here and there, but when I saw the $1.5 million win, I just said to myself, ‘Holy moly!’. I had to make sure it was real from all angles.”
He said he plans to claim the prize soon, calling it “a momentous occasion.” Recently retired, he described himself as conservative with money but intends to buy a new bike to enjoy his love of cycling.
“I might not buy a Porsche with the win, but I’ll definitely be getting a new bike. I love my cycling, it provides me with exercise, mental wellness and some friends!”
He said the prize will help secure his future and support his loved ones. “I’ll also make sure my family is well looked after. There will be a lot of good things done!”
