Kokoda Gala Ball 2025 celebrates 20 years of youth programs
Celebrate 20 years of Kokoda Youth Foundation at the Gala Ball with fine dining, live shows and fundraising.
What’s happening?
The Kokoda Youth Foundation is marking two decades of impact with its 20 Year Gala Ball on Saturday, October 11, 2025.
The celebration will take place in the Grand Ballroom of Mercure Gold Coast Resort from 6pm to 10pm AEST.
Alumni, supporters and the wider community are invited to a glamourous evening filled with fine dining, flowing drinks, live music, comedy and cultural performances by Papua New Guinea dancers to honour the 1942 Kokoda Campaign.
Why it matters
For over 20 years, the Kokoda Youth Foundation has transformed the lives of Queensland teenagers through free programs that build confidence, courage and character.
The gala is both a celebration of these achievements and a fundraiser to ensure that these programs continue to shape future generations.
Local impact
Proceeds raised on the night through raffles and auctions, including a signed and framed microphone by musician Katy Perry, will directly fund the Foundation’s youth programs.
These programs focus on the values of Courage, Endurance, Mateship and Sacrifice, encouraging resilience, leadership and community service among young Australians.
By the numbers
20 years of Kokoda Youth Foundation programs helping Queensland teenagers build confidence and character.
8,000 participants take part each year in Kokoda Challenge endurance events.
96 kilometres is the longest Kokoda Challenge hike, honouring the 1942 Kokoda diggers.
Zoom in
“The 20 Year Gala Ball is our way of celebrating our journey and thanking our community,” said CEO Angela Debnam.
“It’s a chance to reflect on the incredible milestones we’ve achieved, the young people we have helped and the contributions of those who have made it all possible.”
Zoom out
The Foundation’s work is funded by everyday Australians who take part in the Kokoda Challenge endurance series.
Held annually across four Queensland locations, these bushland hikes attract thousands who test themselves across distances up to 96km. More than physical events, they embody the values of the Kokoda diggers while supporting free programs that shape stronger individuals and communities.
