Landmark real estate agency to close
ONE of the Gold Coast’s landmark real estate agencies is set to close its doors.
Knobel & Davis, which was founded in 1981 and dominated the Gold Coast market in the late 1980s, will shut for the last time at the end of March.
Co-founder and principal Kerry Davis is retiring to Port Douglas, and the remaining employees will move to work under the banner of LJ Hooker Ashmore.
Mr Davis, who is now turning 80, said that at one point in the late 1980s the business held a 70 per cent market share of all sales between Tweed Heads and Sanctuary Cove.
Knobel & Davis then expanded to open multiple offices throughout Queensland and overseas. The remaining two offices, on Bribie Island and in Japan, will continue to operate. “The time has finally come to close this chapter in the book of K&D history,’’ said Mr Davis.
“To my long-time clients, my beautiful supportive family, friends and, of course, my many friends, I sincerely thank you for your ongoing support, friendship and constant referrals throughout the years. “It truly has always been, very much appreciated.”
