Map more loos: Join the Great Dunny Hunt
The Great Dunny Hunt 2025 runs until 11 May. Help map Gold Coast toilets and support 7.2M Aussies living with incontinence.
What’s happening?
The Great Dunny Hunt still on going until 11 May 2025, encouraging Gold Coasters and Australians alike to locate and register public toilets missing from the National Public Toilet Map.
This national campaign, run by Continence Health Australia, aligns with World Continence Week and seeks to improve toilet accessibility for all.
Why it matters
For over 7.2 million Australians living with incontinence, easy toilet access is essential. Many avoid leaving home without knowing where the nearest toilet is.
This campaign aims to close the toilet gap, empowering individuals and families to travel with confidence.
Local impact
Queensland's Department of Transport and Main Roads recently discovered over 100 public toilets not listed on the map—proof that local knowledge is vital. Hidden loos in parks, libraries, and shopping centres are waiting to be uncovered.
By the numbers:
The National Public Toilet Map logs more than 3.2 million annual searches.
49% of surveyed Australians avoid long trips without toilet location info.
The economic cost of incontinence reached $66.6 billion in 2023, with a further $33.8 billion in lost wellbeing.

Jim Cooper, CEO of Continence Health Australia, said:
“We believe there are thousands of public toilets across the country that remain unaccounted for on the National Public Toilet Map.”
“These may be hidden in small towns, parks, libraries, service stations as well as newly built community spaces.”
“There are commercial businesses like transport companies, service station and convenience chains, and shopping centres that have public toilets, and many may be missing from our map.”
“We are asking businesses as well as individuals to share their knowledge and help us update the map.”
“These toilets are essential for many Australians, particularly those managing continence issues.”
