Missing local teen found dead

A 17-year-old Gold Coast girl who went missing, has been found dead.

The teen disappeared from Robina at 8.30am Tuesday and police yesterday launched land search in the Carrara area with assistance from SES crews and members of the public

A command post was set up at the AFL ground along Nielsens Road, Carrara and members of the public were encouraged to meet there to join the search. Family members and police were particularly concerned for the teen’s welfare because she had a medical condition.

Unfortunately, the search ended tragically when a body was found.

The family have requested privacy during this time.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.

Police thanked the media and the public for their help.

Police are appealing to anyone with information to immediately come forward.
