Tucked away in the charming and historic Mudgeeraba village sits brand-new romance bookshop Ivy and Ink. It’s a haven for the bookishly inclined, with a dark, moody, and cosy vibe, full of titles from local and international independent romance authors.
Ivy and Ink Bookshop is the latest creation from local author and internet sensation Melinda Terranova, who saw a gap in the Gold Coast market for a bricks and mortar indie romance bookstore.
Why did you start the bookshop?
I wanted to give independent authors a spotlight in the publishing world where they could have their books in an actual bookshop. For me, there’s something magical about the experience of finding a book that resonates deeply with a reader. Watching people enjoy browsing through shelves and discovering new authors whilst escaping reality in our cosy corner of the Gold Coast thrills me.
Why did you choose Mudgeeraba to open the shop?
Mudgeeraba has a small-town charm that suits a bookshop so well, and having lived here years ago, I knew it would be the perfect location. I have customers travel from all over, including from Brisbane and Toowoomba, who have loved discovering Mudgeeraba and its unique charm.
What has been the highlight of your time in Mudgeeraba so far?
The community and other local stores have been so welcoming. We have an exceptional coffee shop called Globe Trotters just opposite us, which works perfectly because everyone knows books and coffee go hand in hand.
Ivy and Ink Bookshop is located at Shop 8 / 58 Railway Street, Mudgeeraba Qld and is open from Tuesday to Saturday. Follow their journey on Instagram @ivyandinkbookshop
