Property giant wins green light for Robina project
Property giant Walker Corporation has won Queensland Government approval for a 2500-dwelling project in the heart of the city at Robina.
The State Government has confirmed it has given the green light to Walker Corporation, which was heavily involved with the development of Hope Island, for its Lakesview Robina project.
Lakesview is planned to comprise 2500 apartments and townhouses on a massive site adjoining the northern side of Glades Golf Club and to the western side of the Greenheart Parklands.
The proposal was submitted to the State Government under its State Facilitated Development program and allowed for 50ha of open space, including 15ha of lakes and wetlands.
The State Facilitated Development pathway is designed to streamline the approval processes for “shovel-ready” projects on infill land to boost housing supply faster.
The site previously had approvals in place for 1550 dwellings, but its revised masterplan asked for that number to be increased to 2750. The State Government reduced the number down to 2500 but dropped the requirement for 500 affordable homes.
