Ram-raiders escape with cash
A trio of thieves ram-raided a tobacconist shop at Ormeau this morning before escaping with cash from an ATM.
Police were called to the Peachey Road business at about 3:00 am after reports of a white Hilux Utility being used to gain entry to the shop.
The thieves had used the Hilux to smash through a security roller door and window to gain entry to the building. They then wrapped a chain around the ATM, dragged it outside and smashed it open.
The trio escaped in the white utility with cash from the ATM.
The robbery is the latest in a string of raids on tobacco shops in South East Queensland this year.
Police are urging anybody who witnessed the raid, saw any suspicious activity or may have video footage in the area to contact them.
