Roll up, roll up for the annual show
The annual Gold Coast Show starts this Friday, and organisers are hoping to break last year’s 120,000 attendance record.
Gold Coast Show Society President Josephine Tobias said the Show, even before opening day, was already breaking records.
Ms Tobias said this year’s show had attracted a record number of entries into its art competitions and its home craft exhibitions.
“This year we have received 1400 art works for the competition, which is up substantially from the 400 entries we received five years ago,” Ms Tobias said.
“Similarly, we will feature 1200 home craft exhibitions this year, which is terrific.”
The Show will this year stretch 4km along the Broadwater Parklands, with the always-popular sideshow alley on the southern end of the park.
Equestrian events and dog shows will be held at the far northern end of the park while the concerts and camel rides will be at centre stage.
Ms Tobias said the annual show, which is free to attend, was always popular because it “offers something for everybody”.
“It doesn’t matter if you are 8 years old or 80 years old, people always find something they love to do at the show.
“It is why the show is always so popular and we are planning to make the 2025 show bigger and better than ever before.”
