Six beautiful family homes for sale in the hinterland for less than $1 million
We recently published a story about beachside suburbs being out of reach for home buyers with $1 million or less to spend. While there’s no denying that property prices keep rising, a million dollars is still a lot of money and can buy you something great if you’re willing to head to the western side of this beautiful city.
3 Moonbeam Parade, Mudgeeraba
Mudgeeraba is close to the M1, only a 15-minute drive from Burleigh and 20 minutes from Broadbeach. There are several excellent public and private schools in the area, which makes it a family favourite. It’s full of country charm and is the gateway to scenic areas like Springbrook. Though getting rarer, there are still houses available under the million-dollar mark.
5 Boy-Ull Road, Springbrook
Homes in Springbrook perch on the edge of a world heritage listed national park. It’s a spectacular drive up the mountain and the community is as close knit as they come. It’s one of the more isolated Gold Coast suburbs, being an extra half hour drive from Mudgeeraba, but has many homes that are in the $700,000-$800,000 range.
6 Kowhai Place, Nerang
Nerang has its own rail station that can take you down to Varsity Lakes, or all the way up to Brisbane and beyond. There are several reputable private and public schools nearby, and it’s a very family- friendly area with family-sized homes still available under the mil.
9 Rushworth Street, Worongary
Worongary has been dubbed one of Queensland’s suburbs to watch, largely due to the Skyridge housing development. It borders Mudgeeraba and has quick access to the M1, playgrounds, and local hinterland schools.
12 Alexander Drive, Highland Park
Another suburb that is close to the M1, offering easy access to Brisbane, the rest of the Gold Coast, and beyond. Properties on the hill have views of the entire city, and the block sizes are large enough for kids to have plenty of room to play in the backyard.
18-20 North Road, Lower Beechmont
A home among the gum trees in one of the Gold Coast’s hidden gem suburbs. Like Springbrook, Lower Beechmont has a tight knit community of people who value living amongst nature and taking things a little slower. Large blocks with family homes on them still often sell for under a million dollars.
