Carrara will be the centre of the Gold Coast sporting action during the next week as the suburb hosts two major sporting events.
The 2024 Gold Coast Tennis International has started at KDV Sport in Carrara while across the road, Gold Coast Sports and Leisure Centre will host 2000 basketball players at the Australian Schools Championship next week.
The 2024 Gold Coast Tennis International, which is scheduled to finish up on Sunday (December 1, features husband and wife players Luke Saville and Daria Saville who are among the crowd favourites to take out their respective singles titles.
Daria Saville, who is ranked 120 in the world and is hoping to break back into the world top 100, is the number one seed for the Gold Coast International Women’s singles.
Her husband Luke is the eighth seed in the Men’s draw.
Meanwhile the biggest ever Foot Locker Australian Schools Championships will tip off on the Gold Coast next week.
The championships start with the opening ceremony on Sunday and games starting on Monday. The finals will be held Thursday and Friday.
A record 216 teams and more than 2000 players will take to the courts contesting under-20, under-17 and under-15 age-groups.
