Steady Eddy returns with 2026 comedy show
Steady Eddy brings Return of the Stedi to Currumbin, with a one-night Gold Coast comedy show.
What’s happening?
Australian comedy favourite Steady Eddy is heading back to the stage with his 2026 tour, Return of the Stedi.
The NSW and Queensland run includes a Gold Coast stop at The Sound Lounge in Currumbin on Friday, 6 March 2026, with a 7:30 pm start.
The tour also travels through Port Macquarie, Cronulla, Leumeah, Bulli, Bateau Bay, Mayfield, Redcliffe and Wynnum.
Why it matters
Steady Eddy remains one of Australia’s most recognisable and uncompromising comedy voices.
This new show reflects a performer in full control, drawing on decades of life experience, honesty and sharp observation.
Audiences can expect a loose, unpredictable set, with no two shows ever the same.
Local impact
Currumbin’s Sound Lounge will host one of only three Queensland shows on the tour.
It places the southern Gold Coast on the national touring map, bringing a major comedy name into an intimate local venue.
By the numbers
The tour includes 10 shows across NSW and Queensland, with one Gold Coast date locked in at Currumbin.
Steady Eddy is now 21 years sober, a milestone that shapes his current work and outlook.
His breakout live show Ready Steady Go! earned ARIA Award for Best Comedy Release in 1994.
Zoom in
The Currumbin show takes place at The Sound Lounge, known for close-up performances where crowd connection matters.
Eddy rarely works from a script, instead pulling from a deep body of material that can shift direction mid-set.
That approach often leads to spontaneous moments and sharp crowd interaction.
Zoom out
Steady Eddy first rose to national fame in the early 1990s, appearing on The Midday Show and Tonight Live with Steve Vizard.
He toured internationally, including Just for Laughs in Montreal and the Edinburgh Fringe.
Born with cerebral palsy, he challenged stereotypes head-on, changing how disability was seen in Australian comedy.
What to look for next?
With only one Gold Coast date announced, demand for the Currumbin show is expected to be strong.
Further regional dates have not been added at this stage.
