Australia Post has just launched a new $12 million, 15,087 sqm parcel facility on the Gold Coast to handle rising parcel volumes.
Why It Matters
Parcel volumes surged 97% since 2019 through the Covid years, making the Gold Coast Australia's largest posting zone outside major capitals.

3. 3,330 Gold Coasters tackle Kokoda Challenge

What's Happening
This weekend, 3,300 Gold Coast residents will tackle one of Australia’s toughest endurance events, the Kokoda Challenge.
Participants will race through 30km, 48km, or 96km courses within 39 hours, starting from Mudgeeraba and finishing in Nerang, climbing 4000m along the way.
Why It Matters
The event raises money and helps support youth programs run by the Kokoda Youth Foundation, which helps disadvantaged and disengaged youth.

This 2024 edition marks the 19th annual event

Foundation chief executive Johllene Cooper said they were delighted with “unwavering support”, with the event sold out.
