Trio of teens charged with assault
Three Gold Coast teenagers have been charged after allegedly assaulting a 16-year-old Pimpama girl in Surfers Paradise.
Videos of the alleged gang attack, which occurred about 8 pm Saturday night and left the victim in hospital, have been seen thousands of times since they were uploaded to social media also broadcast on national media.
Two Southport girls, aged 16 and 17, were each charged with assault occasioning bodily harm while intoxicated and affray in a public place while intoxicated.
A 16-year-old boy from Coomera also faces charges of assault occasioning bodily harm and affray. All three are scheduled to face the Southport Children’s Court on April 17.
A Queensland Police Service spokesperson said the investigation, led by the Gold Coast Child Protection Investigation Unit, was ongoing.
