VAILO to set up manufacturing plan in city
Australian advanced manufacturing company VAILO will establish a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility on the Gold Coast ahead of the 2032 Brisbane Olympics.
Founded in 2012, VAILO is an Australian advanced technology company with its core in ultra-high-performance LED lighting. In recent years it has transitioned from importer to manufacturer.
VAILO founder and Chief Executive Aaron Hickmann said the Gold Coast base would provide the company with significant competitive advantages, while supporting greater ongoing research and development in South Australia.
“VAILO will be better placed for the major investments being made into sporting and other infrastructure ahead of the Brisbane Olympic games and will benefit from being part of an entrepreneurial, innovative and progressive environment in which to conduct business,” said Mr Hickmann.
Malcolm Richards, CEO of Lighting Council Australia, emphasised the importance of backing Australian lighting manufacturers.
“Australia is at the forefront of innovative lighting, and, incredibly, companies like VAILO are achieving this domestically,” said Mr Richards. “We need to support local manufacturers like VAILO, as their contributions are essential for maintaining our leadership in innovation and quality globally.”
VAILO’s Research and Development facility will remain in South Australia.
