Walk to beat Dementia on the Gold Coast
Join the Gold Coast Memory Walk & Jog on 1 June 2025 at Pratten Park and raise funds for dementia support and research.
What’s happening?
The 2025 Gold Coast Memory Walk & Jog is just around the corner, taking place on Sunday, 1 June at Pratten Park, Broadbeach. As Dementia Australia’s largest annual fundraising event, it returns with high hopes of drawing the biggest crowd yet. The event invites locals of all ages to get active, raise funds, and support those affected by dementia.
MCs Takaya Honda and Jess Redmayne will host the event, helping create a fun, family-friendly day out. Participants can choose to walk, jog or run, with a shared mission to support people living with dementia, their families and carers.
“This is a wonderful opportunity to connect with others impacted by dementia,” said Takaya Honda, a long-time advocate and television personality.
Why it matters
Dementia is a growing national health concern. It is the second leading cause of death of Australians and the leading cause of death for Australian women. The Memory Walk & Jog raises vital funds for services, education and research through Dementia Australia, which supports individuals at every stage of their journey.
Jess Redmayne said, “It’s a fantastic day for people impacted by dementia and their supporters to come together to walk or run, raise much-needed funds and to connect.”
As more Australians are impacted every year, the need to raise awareness and promote brain health has become increasingly urgent.
Local Impact
More than 11,060 people live with dementia on the Gold Coast. Events like this offer a sense of unity and shared purpose while supporting local families and carers. Participation also helps fund trusted education and support services delivered by Dementia Australia.
Dementia Australia stated, “As the number of Australians impacted by dementia continues to grow, it is more important than ever that we raise funds and encourage everyone to get active for their brain health.”
