Woolies opens Upper Coomera shopping centre
A new $42 million Woolworths-owned shopping centre has officially opened on the northern end of the Gold Coast.
The Upper Coomera Shopping Centre, at the corner of Reserve Road and Brygon Creek Road, opened today after 16 months of construction.
A Woolworths supermarket, spread over 3,780 square metres, is the anchor store in the neighbourhood shopping centre. Other outlets include a liquor shop, chemist and eight other dining and retail services.
Woolworths Group Development Manager Chris Sheehan said the new shopping centre was designed to make everyday shopping very convenient for the community.
“We want to sincerely thank the local community for their patience and understanding throughout the construction process as we undertook several road upgrades,’’ Mr Sheehan said.
“This included the construction of a new roundabout to service both our centre and adjoining developments, along with the provision of a dedicated signalised pedestrian crossing outside Upper Coomera State College to make it safer for the community."
State Member for Theodore Mark Boothman said he was he was delighted to attend the official opening.
“The 42-million-dollar investment made by Woolworths in our local community will offer residents significant convenience in local shopping and create numerous local employment opportunities,” Mr Boothman said.
