Zinfra opens First Nations grants for Gold Coast and Brisbane groups
First Nations-led groups can apply for Zinfra grants of up to $10,000.

What’s Happening
Zinfra Pty Ltd has opened applications for its 2026 First Nations Grants program, with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander-led organisations on the Gold Coast and in Brisbane eligible to apply.
Funding will support projects that provide crisis help, including accommodation support and food pantries. It will also back programs that strengthen community wellbeing, cultural connection, education, training and employment pathways.
Applications are being invited from selected areas where Zinfra operates. In Queensland, eligible locations include the Gold Coast, Brisbane and Townsville. The program is also open across all regions of Tasmania and Victoria.
Zinfra Managing Director Peter Iancov said the grants reflect the organisation’s commitment to building stronger relationships with First Nations communities across its footprint.
“We’re proud to be introducing our First Nations Community Grants in Queensland and Tasmania for the first time,” Mr Iancov said.
“We’re hoping to receive applications from groups that provide meaningful outcomes for First Nations people in their community, whether that’s immediate help to provide basic needs like food programs, as well as programs that support education, training and cultural connection.”
Applications are now open for eligible organisations.
Why It Matters
The grants could provide practical support for First Nations-led work already happening in local communities.
The funding is aimed at groups delivering services with direct community value. That may include emergency help for people facing hardship, as well as projects that support culture, wellbeing and long-term opportunity.
The program also matters because Queensland and Tasmania are being included for the first time. This gives more First Nations-led groups a chance to apply for funding tied to their local needs.
By the Numbers
Up to $10,000 is available for each successful Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander-led organisation or community group.
Three main areas are eligible for funding, including support services, cultural and wellbeing projects, and training or employment pathways.
Three Queensland locations are included in the program, with the Gold Coast, Brisbane and Townsville listed as eligible areas.
Local Impact
The program could help local organisations continue or expand First Nations-led support.
This may include food programs, accommodation help, wellbeing projects, cultural connection activities, or training initiatives. For groups already working closely with community members, the funding could help keep practical services moving.
It may also support projects that create pathways into education and employment, helping communities build stronger long-term outcomes.
Zoom In
The grants are open to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander-led organisations and community groups.
Zinfra is seeking applications from groups delivering meaningful outcomes for First Nations people. The program’s focus includes both immediate support and longer-term community benefit.
That means a local group could apply for a project that helps meet basic needs. Another group could seek support for cultural connection, education, training or employment work.
Zoom Out
Zinfra is an energy infrastructure service provider operating across several Australian regions.
The 2026 First Nations Grants program is connected to selected areas where the company operates. In Queensland, this includes the Gold Coast, Brisbane and Townsville.
The program also covers all regions of Tasmania and Victoria, widening the reach for First Nations-led organisations outside Queensland.
What To Look For Next?
Eligible Gold Coast and Brisbane organisations can now review the grant details and apply through Zinfra’s community page.
The successful projects are expected to reflect the program’s main goals, including practical support, stronger cultural connection, wellbeing, education, training and employment pathways.
