What’s Happening: Police are cracking down on illegal e-bike use following constant concerns raised by residents across the city.
Why It Matters: E-bike complaints are soaring, with incidents like weaving through foot traffic, ignoring traffic signals and near-misses involving pedestrians and traffic constantly rising.

There have been four juveniles caught in the last two weeks for such things as being unregistered, uninsured, unlicensed, Trespassing on a business, and wilful damage
12 years old was the youngest rider who was recently caught
Local Impact: From Broadbeach to Ormeau, locals are fed up with e-bike chaos, with targeted patrols marking the start of a tougher stance.

“Four juveniles had been dealt with under the Youth Justice Act in the Ormeau region during the past two weeks.” said Senior Constable Michael Coleman.

“We’re delivering for the local community, with $2 million for the new Tallebudgera State School carpark, $800,000 for the Currumbin Eagles for new women’s changerooms, more funding for the Tugun Seahawks to improve their facilities, and funding to make Tugun Surf Club more accessible,” said Currumbin MP Laura Gerber.
“This will support major projects like the new Coomera Hospital featuring at least 600 overnight beds and new car parking spaces to improve accessibility for patients, carers, visitors, and staff,” Mr Crandon said.

New lifejacket laws - QLD boaters must vest up
What’s happening: From 1 July 2025, Maritime Safety Queensland (MSQ) and its partner agencies will begin enforcing new lifejacket rules introduced in December 2024. The laws target high-risk situations to improve boating safety.
